Details about Wingloading Formula
This wingloading chart is based on Total Exit Weight: jumper + all equipment (average 20 to 25 lbs)
Compensation: Decrease your wingloading by 0.10 if...
currency: you have less than 50 jumps in the previous 12 months
canopy design: you have less than 1,000 total jumps and are jumping a fully elliptical canopy (more than 20% wingtip taper)
canopy size: you have less than 1,000 total jumps and are jumping a canopy that is 120 square feet or smaller
Other Factors:
*Minimum Canopy Size for those with less than 25 jumps is 210 square feet, zp fabric, regardless of wingloading.
**Fully elliptical canopies are not permitted for jumpers with less than 200 jumps.
Rounding should be towards less wingloading.
High Density Altitude calls for good judgment on standing down with highly loaded canopies.

5. The following are suggested maximum wing loadings based on experience level:
a. A and B license 1.0 pounds per square foot (psf) maximum [100 jumps]
b. C license 1.2 psf maximum [200 jumps]
c. D license 1.4 psf maximum until demonstrated proficiency under canopy. [500 jumps]
d. Jumpers should receive formal canopy training and consult with an S&TA before exceeding these recommendations.
6. Any parachute 150 square feet or smaller is considered a high-performance parachute and falls into the D license guideline regardless of the wing loading.
7. Further downsizing beyond the D license guideline above should be performed according to the downsizing progression listed in SIM Section 6-10 Advanced Canopy Flight.
Before you check in at Manifest, use this checklist to make sure you have everything you need:
CURRENT USPA MEMBERSHIP CARD PROOF OF JUMP CURRENCY (logbook) GEAR IN DATE (according to FAR part 65) AND TSO'ED COMPUTER BASED AAD (we recommend Cypres) MAIN AND RESERVE CANOPIES WITHIN WING LOADING LIMITS (see also calculator at right)
EXIT WEIGHT NOT TO EXCEED WHAT IS LISTED ON RESERVE AND CONTAINER LABELS (must be within TSO, this is a Federal Aviation Administration Regulation FAR) THOSE EXCEEDING EXIT WEIGHT OF 254 LBS. ARE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR 2 SLOTS (must also have new TSO that exceeds 254 lbs limit) HOOK TURNS ARE PROHIBITED. SEE DEFINITION. ALL JUMPERS REGARDLESS OF EXPERIENCE LEVEL WILL UNDERGO A BRIEFING OF LANDING PROCEDURES TO INCLUDE THE TWO APPROVED PATTERNS AND OFF FIELD OPTIONS.Landing Procedures
As a USPA Group Member, we are asked to designate separate landing areas for high speed approaches as opposed to "normal" approaches.
Landing area for normal approaches follow these TWO approved patterns:
Land to the NORTH: [for example]

In addition, these normal landing contain these restrictions: TURN FROM DOWNWIND TO FINAL APPROACH LIMITED TO 180°. THE START OF THIS APPROACH SHOULD OCCUR NO HIGHER THAN 800 FEET AND NO LOWER THAN 300 FEET
Any deviation from the 2 published patterns shown above intended to land in the designated normal landing area must be approved specifically and individually by the S&TA.

Other Important Landing Information
It is each jumper's responsibility to fly the specified pattern to promote smooth traffic flow and the safety of other jumpers and spectators. Deviations to the designated pattern for accuracy should be limited to adjustable base leg. Please note that s turns on final are a secondary option for students due to the narrow landing area. Students have the right of way. Also due to narrow strip, crosswind landings are very common. If a jumper is not comfortable landing without being exactly oriented into the wind, it is recommended that further training and practice take place before taking on stronger crosswind landings.
